1789 Restaurant & Bar

My husband and I had an absolutely amazing experience at 1789 in Georgetown. The menu was outstanding, with so many enticing options—from Wagyu tartare and foie gras to scallops, mussels, duck breast, and rack of lamb. We began with the caviar service, which was a perfect way to start, and followed with the New Bedford scallops, which were mouthwatering and full of flavor. The Banks Island mussels were also absolutely divine. The atmosphere made the evening even more special—historic, elegant, and vibrant, a perfect backdrop for such a memorable meal. What truly set the night apart, though, was the service. Steven, our server, along with the rest of the team, provided some of the best service we’ve experienced in a long time. Every detail was attended to seamlessly: our wine glasses were refilled without us needing to ask, courses were checked on within a few bites, and the entire staff was warm, professional, and attentive without ever being intrusive. Overall, 1789 delivered on every level—phenomenal food, beautiful ambiance, and impeccable service.

1789 Restaurant made my birthday unforgettable! From the moment we arrived, they went above and beyond to make it feel special. They created a personalized menu just for me, featuring not only my name but also custom fish substitutions since I don’t eat meat—such a thoughtful touch. The food was absolutely delicious, with each dish perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. The ambiance was equally remarkable; high-end yet cozy, nestled in a historic townhouse in Georgetown, giving the restaurant a warm, inviting feel. To top off the incredible experience, they surprised me with a dessert and a card at the end of the meal. It’s rare to find a place that combines excellent food, exceptional service, and such personalized attention. I’ll definitely be back!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I recently dined at 1789, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. Our server, Sara, truly stole the show—her knowledge of the menu and wine pairings was impressive, and her cheerful demeanor made us feel welcome and valued. She was incredibly responsive to our needs and went above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable meal. The sommelier, Nick, was also wonderful, providing excellent wine recommendations that complemented our dishes beautifully. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it the perfect backdrop for a fantastic evening. I highly recommend 1789 for anyone looking for outstanding service and a delightful culinary journey.
